Mayor Crotty welcomes one of the world's major trade shows to the Orange County Convention Center

Mayor Crotty is joined by Commissioner Tiffany Moore Russell, District 6 who is a key member of the team who traveled to Washington a few weeks ago to make the presentation to the Plastics Industry. Other team members included Jessie Allen, General Manager, Orange County Convention Center and Gary Sain, Orlando/Orange County Convention Visitors Bureau, Inc, Both who were still in Washington finishing the details.

The NPE - International Plastics Showcase one of the biggest trade shows in the world is coming to the Orange County Convention Center.  The show is held every three years, and SPI – The Plastics Industry Trade Association has committed to Orange County for 2012 and 2015.

This is a huge business boost for our local economy. The Plastics Show is among the top 15 largest trade shows in North America. These two shows combined will generate an estimated $190 million dollars in positive economic impact in Central Florida.

Plastics is the third largest manufacturing industry in the U.S. employing more than 1.1 million workers and generating about $379 Billion dollars in annual sales.

Each trade show will include over 2,000 exhibiting companies with more than 50,000 professionals from 120 countries in attendance.

Mayor Crotty stated, "You will not be disappointed. There's a reason we are known as the "Center of Hospitality."

"For years, this trade show has been held in Chicago and I know that Mayor Daley lobbied hard to try and keep it there. In essence, we went head to head, and I'm happy to say Orange County came out on top."
